I spent last weekend in Valencia, and so far it's my favorite city I've visited! I went with one of my classmates from UNC, Taylor, and we had so much fun.

We left Pamplona at 7:45 a.m. by train and arrived in Valencia around 4 p.m. We switched trains one time in Zaragoza, about two hours into the ride, where I had this delicious-looking Oreo-chocolate cupcake.

After we dropped our stuff off at our hostel, we went shopping on Calle de Colón, where all the popular stores are (Zara, Pull & Bear, Bershka, H&M, Nike, Footlocker, and dozens more). I thought I escaped the temptation of sales once El Día de Los Reyes sales ended, but I was sadly mistaken. I caught some pretty awesome sales, but I will admit my total spendings skyrocketed only because I wanted to buy an authentic fútbol jersey that cost me 75 euros. Everything else was super cheap!

On Saturday we woke up early and ate breakfast at a local bakery, and I had a focaccia with grilled chicken, guacamole, a honey mustard-esque sauce and I don't know what else, but it was delicious:

We then spent the day on a double-decker bus touring Valencia! There were two different routes--historic and maritime, and we could hop on and off at any time, so we went on the maritime route first to visit the famous aquarium. This is a boomerang of the cool shimmery outside!

Here are all the photos I took inside the aquarium! This was one of my favorite parts of the trip because I can't remember the last time I went to an aquarium.

Here is a video of the inside of the tunnel!

And here's a boomerang of some clownfish and sea anemone! I was freaking out because this is exactly what Nemo lives in:

After the aquarium, we hopped back on the bus and spent the rest of the day looking at historic Valencia! Most of these pictures are from when we were walking to breakfast that morning, but some are from the actual bus (we were sitting on the top level, of course).

On Sunday, our train back to Pamplona left at 4:15 p.m. so that morning we checked out of the hostel and walked to the park close by that had soccer fields. There was actually a game happening, so we watched the entire first half for about an hour before walking through old town. I even picked a team (white, because they had the coolest cleats), which is why you can hear my distress in this video when they didn't take advantage of this corner kick!

When we were walking through old town we realized there was a festival going on, so we sat on the edge of a fountain and watched traditional flamenco dancing for awhile, and then went to a paella restaurant for lunch. Valencia is famous for Paella, and I must say it was savory.

Even though we only spent two days in Valencia, it felt like a lifetime! I definitely want to go back--I told Taylor I was planning on retiring there.

¡Hasta luego!
