Barcelona: Day 3

The highlight of my day was visiting FC Barcelona's soccer stadium, or as locals call it, Camp Nou!

I took a tour through the museum and afterwards saw the changing rooms, field, conference room and press box. The displays at the museum taught me a ton of history. For example, originally, the team wanted to be called something else (I forgot what they wanted to be called specifically, but I believe it was named after someone). This was during the Franco dictatorship, so he didn't allow it, which resulted in the name Fútbol Club Barcelona.
The first stadium was inaugurated in September 1957, 5 months after my mom was born! It only sat about 2,000 people if I remember correctly, but whatever the number was, it was way too small. The stadium would be so full that fans in the last row would be halfway out of the stadium, which is how the team's supporters got the name "culés" (guess what that means). Today the stadium seats almost 100,000 people. Here you can get a taste of some of the things I saw on the tour:
I ate lunch at the Brooklyn Café, and yes I wore a shirt that says "Brooklyn" on purpose. Here you can observe Brooklynn wearing a Brooklyn shirt at a Brooklyn cafe:

I ordered the "Flat," which is a turkey melt with cheese and mushrooms.
After lunch I went to see Black Panther because I was probably the only black person on the planet who hadn't seen it yet. In Pamplona, there are certain days where some theaters play American movies in their original version, but most of the time they're dubbed in Spanish. The theater was about a 40 minute walk from where I ate lunch, but I didn't mind because the weather was beautiful today. Sixty and sunny! However, I did have to struggle up this hill. The first thing I thought of was San Francisco.

It doesn't look as steep in the picture, but trust me when I say I went on a mini-hike today.
As far as my opinion on the movie, I was--and I don't use this term often--shook. Honestly one of the best films I've seen in terms of unpredictable plot twists. The moments building up to Killmonger throwing T'Challa off the cliff, I was thinking "psh, this obviously isn't going to happen because how can they kill Black Panther in his own doggone movie?" Then he actually threw my mans?! Y'all I was actually curled up in that theater recliner for several minutes trying to compose myself. The parallels the movie made to our current sociopolitical issues were also brilliant, and I see why people have been saying they went back to see the movie multiple times.
For dinner I went to Kibuka Goya, a Japanese restaurant. I ordered sushi with salmon, avocado, dried tomato, oregano, and mint. Delicious is an extreme understatement. And for those who're wondering why I would order something with tomato since that fruit is my mortal enemy, I figured all the other distinct tastes would cover the tomato up, which they did.

Lastly, here's the first picture I took today while walking to the stadium. This is in Plaza de España, where the renovated bull-ring from Sunday also is, but with a much prettier sky.

I would like to leave you all with a question to ponder until my next post: why is Michael B. Jordan so fine?
