Barcelona: Day 6

Update on my favorite city in Spain so far: definitely Barcelona. It was so hard leaving.
At the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday, I met a student from UC Berkeley who was also spending his spring break solo, so we spent some of the day together. He had been in Barcelona for about four days and didn't know there was a beach (I know, right?) so I had to show him. On the way there I saw this really cool mural. The face of the boy in the middle caught my attention because it looked so real.

We ate lunch at El Quim de La Boqueria, which is the restaurant I thought I was at my first day in Barcelona. The entire market is called La Boqueria, so I just assumed that the first restaurant I saw was the right one. It actually wasn't an indoor restaurant, just a long bar surrounding the grills on three sides, and it was incredibly busy. I really liked being able to see all the chefs cooking.
I ordered the seafood platter, and when I saw them plating the food, at first I couldn't believe it was mine. It looked like so much, but I finished it all! I think it was because nothing was fried, so it didn't feel heavy. I don't even know what everything on the plate was, but it was all delicious.

After lunch I got a piercing! I've been planning this since last year--it was supposed to be for my 21st birthday, but I'll still be here for that, and there are more tattoo/piercing shops in Barcelona than in Pamplona, so I did my research beforehand.

Okay this is actually three piercings, but they all happened at the same time! After that we walked back to the beach and ordered mojitos to celebrate my tolerance for pain.

The mojito I had in Zaragoza was definitely better, but I will say they put a good amount of alcohol in it. We walked to the Teleferico tower afterwards to wait in line for a cable car ride, but they had closed for the day, so we parted ways. On the way back home I stopped for a cone of mint chocolate chip ice cream:

And took one last picture of Port Vell before leaving the beach.

This was one of the most fun and adventurous weeks of my life, and Barcelona is a place I will definitely visit again.
